We have invited instrumentalists of all abilities, to come and play with us, so we’ll have a fairly large orchestra of all standards! You will be able to come along from 1pm, taking the rare opportunity to see how the orchestra rehearses. Our fantastic Conductor, Rupert Bond, and Leader, Flo Peycelon, will guide us through music that has been taken from the BBC Ten Pieces. These pieces have been especially arranged for beginners through to experienced players to enable them to all work together.

    • The Open Workshop will commence at 1pm when we’ll be rehearsing:
      • Bizet                      – Carmen Suite No.2, featuring ‘Toreador’s Song’ and ‘Habanera’
      • Grieg                     – Hall of the Mountain King
      • Beethoven         – Symphony No.5, 1st Movement only (abridged version)

    • The Concert will commence at 3:30pm when we’ll be playing:
      • All the above music with our newly acquired players, followed by music played by Folkestone Symphony only:
      • Beethoven         – Symphony No.5, 1st Movement only (full unabridged version)
      • Williams               – Theme from Schindler’s List
            • Soloist: Floriane Peycelon
            • Time – From 1pm, with a concert at 3.30pm
            • Admission – FREE but with a retiring collection

We’re aiming to showcase Folkestone Symphony to our local community, in the hope that we’ll create more awareness and improve attendance at our future concerts. Plus the fact that our additional instrumentalists could well be future FHOS players.
