Seaside Special – Folkestone Sat 14th June 2025

2025 may be Rail200 year but join local railway historian, Ann, for a wander through Folkestone’s 182 years of railway history.

Follow the line to hear how the arrival of the South Eastern Railway company’s line transformed the town’s fortunes. Discover the characters, hear the scandals and the sorrows which the railway brought to town. This railway history tour guides you through one of the Kent coast’s gems.

Starting at Folkestone Central Station the tour finishes at The Harbour Arm

Distance and terrain:The total length of the tour is approximately 3 km (1.8 miles).

Conducted on public throughfares the terrain includes some uneven ground, declines and steps but will be conducted at a leisurely walking pace. Please wear suitable shoes and clothing for the weather (which, hopefully will be dry!) – Places are on a pre booked basis only- Please read our Terms & Conditions as booking assumes acceptance of them. Terms & Conditions: 1) In the case of cancellation of a tour by Tales from the Tracks, participants will be informed at the earliest opportunity and payment (less 50p booking fee) will be refunded within 28 days. 2) In the case of cancellation of a booking by a customer Tales from the Tracks will make a full refund of the full amount if informed via email/ Contact Us button or text message at least 24 hours prior to the commencement of the tour booked. 5) Tales from the Tracks accepts no responsibility for accommodation, travel or any out of pocket expenses occurred in the case of withdrawal or cancellation of a tour. 6) Any participant whose behaviour disrupts a tour or causes offence to tour guide or other participants will be requested and required to leave the tour without financial recompense.NB. Whilst the meeting point is by the station sign on the station approach pavement to Folkestone Central railway station there is no association between that organisation and Tales from the Tracks.
