Prospect Cottage: Public Visits – Home of Derek Jarman
June 17 @ 9:30 am - 4:00 pm
Visit Prospect Cottage and step inside the former home and creative space of artist and filmmaker Derek Jarman.
Today, Prospect Cottage remains much as it did when Jarman was alive. Many people still make the pilgrimage to Dungeness to see Prospect Cottage and enjoy its unique gardens. We are now proud to offer you the opportunity to enter the cottage.
Visitors to Prospect Cottage can view artworks, gain greater insight into the life and work of Derek Jarman and reflect on the profound importance of this special place.
Entry is by timed ticket and pre-booking is essential.

Age restriction: Children under the age of six go free. All babies must be carried and children should hold an adult’s hand at all times.
There is a maximum number of four visitors per time slot.
Please note, due to the historic nature of the cottage itself, doorways and hallways are narrow and there are small steps into the cottage. This may be challenging for some individuals and Dungeness is a shingle surface with limited pathways
Art Fund and Creative Folkestone members must bring their membership cards with them to gain access to the cottage. Students should bring their NUS cards.
Prospect Cottage and its contents were acquired for the public following the 2020 campaign supported by the National Heritage Memorial Fund, Art Fund, the Linbury Trust, the Luma Foundation and the Roger De Haan Charitable Trust as well as those who gave anonymously and the contributions of over 8,000 members of the public.
