Council for British Archaeology offer Festivals of Archaeology Open Day If interested read down for the various dates and places.

Come and get creative with us and our Artist in Residence, Bryan Hawkins, for our Art and Archaeology workshops.
By looking at finds from the excavation, we will examine how we relate and respond to objects that played an important role to people living in the past.
Working in collaboration with
the Kent Downs Landscape Team and the Portable Antiquities Scheme, CAT finds specialists will be on hand
to answer any questions you may have on your discoveries. There is no need to book, just drop in when you can!

As part of the centenary celebrations of 100 years of excavation at East Wear Bay, we are creating a short film about the project and are asking for volunteers from the local community to take part. We are looking for anyone who wants to lean or improve their filmmaking skills and create something for others to enjoy.
There will be three workshops run on consecutive days and we ask that participants are able to attend all 3. These will run from 10am-1pm at the excavation site.
Participants under 16 must be accompanied by an adult and all must be willing to sign a film/photography consent form. Please book in advance as there are limited spaces available: get_involved@canterburytrust.ac.uk
Events will take place across the Kent Downs and Caps et Marais Workshop 1: d’Opale, happen across all seasons, and can be accessed using
sustainable transport.

In celebration of the Council for British Archaeology Festival of Archaeology, we will be holding a site open day to enable guests to come along and see the excavations first hand. Learn about the amazing history of the site from our archaeological team and handle finds that have been discovered.
Our pop-up dig pit will be out for children to enjoy
and you are invited to bring an important object with you to photograph and add to our digital time capsule.
There will be a quiet hour between 9am-10am for those who prefer to explore the site in their own way with less noise and fewer people about. We will have our sensory backpacks available to inspire your site explorations.
Site tours will run every hour on the hour from 10am;
the last tour is at 1pm. There is no need to book ahead, just show up.
