June 2006 - MP Michael Howard re-opens Skate Park
Younger members of Folkestone's population gathered at
Folkestone Sports Centre last Friday (June 9th) with their boards, skates and
bikes to see MP Michael Howard re-open their Skate Park.
Following the closure of the Park, £15,000 has been spent on reducing noise. One
pupil from The Harvey Grammar School, Mohammed Al Jourani presented a cheque for
over £1,000 following fundraising activities to help save their park.
March 2006 - Progress with the Skate Park
It is hoped that the skate park built on two old tennis
courts at the Sports Centre will soon be back in operation. With the
support of Shepway District Council, negotiations are proceeding to find the
best possible height and position for an acoustic fence around the park.
It is expected that this will either eliminate noise from the users or reduce it
to an expectable level for the nearby residence - Lynne Smith
