British Power Boat Championships at Folkestone Harbour

For a second year Folkestone will be hosting the British Powerboat championships at the harbour on 1st and 2nd September.

Drivers will be bringing boats from Bournemouth, Southampton, Fareham and Devon. Closer to home, Kevin Edmonson & Annika Hawthorne from Chartham Hatch near Canterbury will be racing for the first time, following training, in Sea Fever, a Phantom/Yamaha 85. In contrast Brian Peedell from Surrey is an experienced racer of over 20 years and will be hoping for success in his Mannerfelt Batboat/Mercury 115. Sharon Atlee, a finance assistant from Rochester known in racing circles as the “Glamorous Granny” will be bringing her new boat Pirates Cave, a Tintorera/Yamaha 90, to Folkestone. A younger competitor will be Ashleigh Foulser, a student at Bourenermouth University and joint junior national champion.in 2011, who will be trying hard to defend her title in Digital Clarity, a Bakdraft/Yaaha 90.

This is sure to be an exciting event and you can catch the action at the Harbour.

Saturday 1st. Heat 1, 12.00 – 12.25. Heat 2, 12.30 – 13.00

Sunday 2nd    Practice, 12.45 – 13.00. Race, 13.00 – 14.00
