Roger Joyce Dip Arch RIBA
Chartered Architect.
Whither Folkestone?
The role of Architecture in Regeneration.
at Ward’s Hotel on Tuesday 30th January
7:30 for 8pm start
All are welcome to attend.
At this exciting time, Roger believes it is appropriate to
look at how Folkestone first became a destination, how the town has gone
through major cycles of regeneration, and to examine the forces that have
led to those reincarnations. He will describe the current developments
happening in the Town, look at the role that Architecture is playing in the
current regeneration, and how the future might appear........
Go Folkestone looks forward to this topical
talk and hopes to see you there

About our speaker Roger Joyce, for the
Go Folkestone Arts Committee talk on 30th January
Roger Joyce has lived in Folkestone since 1974. He came to this area
to join another firm of Architects, where he was an Associate until he set
up on his own in 1977. The Practice has been in Bouverie Square since
1996, in the offices of a former Practice, Waite Irwin. The Principal of
that Practice remains as a Consultant to Roger Joyce Associates to this day.
In his day, Roger had contact with the two other established Practices in
town, Cyril Griggs in Manor Road, and John Floyd in Somerset Road.
Today, the Practice is the only firm of Chartered Architects in Folkestone,
and is currently working on the restoration and conversion of Marine
Crescent, flats conversions, a community centre for St Martin's Cheriton,
many domestic extensions and several churches as a Diocesan approved
Inspecting Architect, including the reinstatement of the Parish Church after
the fire there in September last year.
